I won an ARC of this book through goodreads first reads (even though I actually didn't it just came with one of the books I did win). The book was not necessarily something I would have read on my own but all in all I didn't hate it.
The writing was quite good and the two perspectives were interesting but I wasn't in love with the stroy. The daughter annoyed me through parts of the book, but that might have just been because I am definately closer to her age than to her mother's (so her teenageness bothered me as I am nothing like that). I almost wish that the son also had narration but it wasn't necessary to the story. If you wanted a book about the relationship between a mother and daughter this is probably a good pick but as I lean more towards romance (it was seriously lacking in that department) it just wasn't for me.
I gave it 3 stars because while I didn't particularly like it there was nothing wrong with it.

What the Bride Didn't Know - Kelly Hunter
I won this book through Goodreads FirstReads. Sorry This review is so short but I read the book a few months before I wrote the review.I actually really liked this book. Usually I find harlequin romance novels too short and not descriptive enough and ultimately unbelievable. This novel was not wholly believable considering the main characters were both spies but it was well written and fast paced without compromising plot. The exotic setting was interesting and well fleshed out without being the main focus of the novel.
---Spoilers---
I thought the female lead’s amnesia may have lasted too long and it was conveniently pointed (just forgetting they weren’t actually married) but it did add to an interesting plot twist. I liked Trig’s reaction to Lena’s amnesia and thought that he did the best he could. The marriage scene was cute and it incorporated everything mentioned throughout the novel. The sudden addition of Lena’s brother was a good cliff hanger and I can’t wait to read his story.

Unbreakable Love - Angela Carling
I won a signed copy of this book through Goodreads first
reads so I really wanted to like it, but I was really disappointed. (Spoilers Ahead)The book starts out with Jennie going on a date with Connor who was never mentioned again. I found so many errors it was a little hard to read at points. That paired with the characters' strangely formal dialogue and the author's odd placement of higher level diction made it hard for me to get into the story. There was precious little background information which left me lost and wondering if I was reading the second book in a series. The character shifts between Nate and Jennie were poorly executed in places and it took me a couple seconds to catch up. The beginning was very slow in the way that not much happened but the author also skips ahead weeks at a time for seemingly no reason.
I felt like the second half was rushed. I didn't feel that it was plausible for Nate and Jennie to fall in love in such a short time with so little interaction. Nate and Jennie have a fight and are then separate for most on the novel. I thought this would be a love story but it really just felt like they were friends. Celeste's story was unexpected and of a darker tone when compared to the rest of the work. I really disliked that after a fight with Nate Jennie went back to her cheating ex-boyfriend, also I didn't like how long it took Jennie to find out that he was cheating on her again. I thought the whole "past life" bit was weird and and didn't really fit. I hated how dramatic Jennie's parents death's were because I kept hoping that they would live but Carling used that hope against me and killed them in the end anyway. I really disliked how it felt that it only took Jennie a few days to get over her parent's deaths and how her sister never seemed upset. I also hated how Carling ended things with Celeste, it seemed almost an afterthought and it was very unrealistic.
There were things that I liked though. I found myself laughing a few times. I loved Celeste's sugar fetish and laughed almost every time she made an appearance. I liked Jennie's best friend even though she wasn't mentioned much. I also really like Aria though she too was a bit player. I was really happy that Jennie's mom made plans before her death, because I really liked her during the story. Overall it took me a while but eventually I got into enough to give it more than one star. . 2 stars.
